这是中级口译考试中的一句话，笔者发现考试的时候，很多考生对obsolete这个词比较陌生，其实这个词的意思通过上下文就能猜出来，这句话中obsolete的近义词有out-of-dated, broken, old-fashioned, 所以，obsolete这个词就可以译成“陈旧的”、“过时的”。
